Select Solid Tumor Types
Tumors can develop throughout the body across a variety of tissue and cell types, with differing patterns to their pervasive nature and prevalence within select populations. Signature hallmarks of cancer have most recently been characterized by Hanahan in 2022 as the following: sustaining proliferative signaling, evading growth suppressors, avoiding immune destruction, enabling replicative immortality, tumor-promoting inflammation, activating invasion and metastasis, inducing/accessing vasculature, genome instability and mutation, resisting cell death, and deregulating cellular metabolism.1
Treatment paradigms across solid tumors have historically involved a combination or sequence of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.2 However, new targeted approaches, selective to tumor types, are continuing to expand and improve treatment options and prognosis for patients. Details for specific tumors are provided here.2
